| Notes: |
The Hail storm hit my place of work. Reading Area Community College in Downtown Reading PA. Second and Penn Streets in downtown Reading. 19602.
The hail was blowing at a steep angle for the first 5 or 6 minutes then became vertical and rain increased.
The largest hail had a clear center and that 1/2" to 3/4" or so core was surronded by a lumpy cloudy layer that appeared to be small cloudy hail welded on to it. There were clear seems between the lumpy welded on bits which were 1/4" to 3/8" or so in size.
The larger hailstones hitting the membrane roof of the building nextdoor were bounging up in the air 4 or 5 feet like oingpong balls.
The dents in the newwer cars hoods and roofs were 1" to 4" apart. My 20 year old Honda Accord has only one dent I can see. |
