Woke up @ 1:20am on 10/20 to loud thunder and odd noise. Looked out and saw light rain starting with rice-sized white hailstones on patio table under a light, six feet away. Watched as rain intensity increased, quickly melting existing hail but possibly with additional similar-sized hail failing. Then heavy rain fell, melting all evidence of the hail. Stopped watching after 10 minutes. Times are "close" ... I WAS sound asleep prior! In the morning, I attempted to recreate the density I saw with rice on a 12 inch square. Somewhere in the 175 - 200 stones in that space. A very noticeable amount, even in my sleep. Caught me way off-guard. |
