This was a much more energetic hail storm than the one that occurred at 2:40 PM (pad not retrieved. The hail pad shows the sum effect of both events. In addition to the 400 deep pea sized and 3/8" strikes, there are perhaps 200 "splat" sites typically 3/8" in diameter that I attribute to very soft hail that erased some deeper sites and all of the rice sized strikes seen on the pad from the 2:40 PM storm. Rain gauge is up to .70 inches at 5:33 PM. |
