| Notes: |
I called this in to the NWS, because I wasn't sure if I was seeing hail or sleet. The meteorologist said it might have been graupel. Sky was mostly cloudy, temperature 54 degrees. Rain began around 7:45a. It changed to hail/sleet/graupel at around 7:49a, lasting about five minutes, and changing to steady rain for five minutes, then intermittent rain and sprinkles for 15 minutes. Hailstones were 2-3 mm in size and melted within a few minutes. There was enough that it was visible on the grass like hail. Estimate distance between hailstones at 2 cm. |
