GRB 1720 GRE 1731 0.02" starting with small 3-6 mm stones, with larger 10-13 mm stones mixing in by 1725. 13 mm is the largest diameter GR measured here to date (PORB 20170130)--these larger hydrometeors were of hard opaque ice and had a mild (rounded) awl-shape, with a clear descent "tail" making the awl tip. Some RA mixed with the GR, but ice dominated. Stones partially covered the ground at max accumulation, say 50% cover, but melted away rather quickly. |
