The average hail size was 3/8ths of an inch-a mixture of clear and white ice. The largest hailstones were the size of grapes. Some of the largest hailstones snapped off the arrowhead off the wind vane on my automatic weather station, and gave false readings from the tipping bucket rain gauge.
