Despite not being on CoCoRaHS at the time, I remember this day well. I was 2.6 miles South of Dublin, OH. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning caught my attention and looked like a monster storm was coming. However, the bulk of the storm barely went to my south and I was left empty-handed without hail. However, a smaller storm flared up behind the bigger complex and hit us right on at 3:49 pm. I was able to capture a video on my phone and I have entered the data based on it. It was a short hail event, there was one hailstone that stood out whih was 5/16" and clear ice, while the others were rice-sized and white ice. There were reports of inch-sized hail in downtown Hilliard including the place where OH-FR-81 would be placed a year later. I had family very close to the area (less than 0.1 mile) who told me they had also seen one-inch hail. |
