Although Taos receives its share of harsh weather, this is the worst hail event I've seen here in eight years. The rain and hail blew horizontal to the ground as the storm moved northwest to southeast. Lightning strikes and thunder claps were no more than 15 seconds apart. The storm is a little more than 45 minutes old and it's still raining (no hail). The wind is calm now and a break in the stratus fractus (L7) cloud cover can be seen to the west. The thunder and lightning continues to the northwest. |
