Note: Storm witnessed by my wife. Start of storm and hail very accurate; end of hail storm estimated. Hail size average 3/8 to 1/2", large 1 2/16" (measured on hail pad but partial imprint along edge so might be distorted), 14/16" largest size physically measured. Minor flooding with high rain rate at 5:25 pm of 2.20"/hour with total precipitation of .41". Wife said hail and rain came in waves of intensity. Moderate vegetation damage; found broken decal on one vehicle. Wife received 1"x2 1/2" bruise (hematoma) while retrieving larger hail stones during the storm (what a loving wife!).
Drive home from Gunnison encountered previous hail path on Monarch Pass couple of miles east of Sargents around 6:00 pm. One area of the pass had couple miles of 1-2" of pea size hail accumulation (still on road with minor flood debris on all lanes of traffic in one spot). Hail lessened as I approached Monarch Pass and ended approximately 2 miles east of the summit. Precipitation ended on east side of Monarch Pass approximately 8 miles from start on west side. Precipitation continued 3 miles west of my house.
