I had the hail pad out for only half the 3-minute length of the storm. The hail accumulated to a depth of 1/4 inch in the low places. Note added 6/10 when I collected the pad in anticipation of more hail. I did not bring it in on 5/15/2010 because it had been out for only half the length of the storm. I monitored the hail pad from 5/15 to 6/10 when the first new storm seemed imminent. A lot of rice sized hail occurred sometime in that period that I did not personally observed, nor did I know the date. So the hail pad represents approximately the total hail that fell from 5/15 until 6/10. Perhaps 100 1/4" hail dents were pretty much annealed out by the rice sized hail that fell subsequently. |
