 Fair with a little haze in the morning. Variably cloudy through mid-afternoon. Growling thunder from a thunderstorm cell in the SE at 1800. Moderate to heavy rain and thunder when storm reached us at 1830. Then torrential rain with strong, swirling wind began at 1840 and lasted almost 10 minutes. Read .63" and submitted Significant Weather Report. Could barely see house across the street. Thunder and a little more rain until 1900. Surveyed yard for wind damage, and found large limb had been torn off pine tree. Lots of pine cones in the yard. Fair the rest of the night until fog developed. Treetop fog with fair sky overhead, and 73.0° at obs time.
