Light rain from weak thundershower beginning at 2:35pm and ending at around 3:05. Gauge catch checked at 3:44pm indicated 0.01". Observed second more potent storm coming while checking gauge catch. Doppler radar indicated a fairly strong thunderstorm headed our way in a SE direction coming from the Monument area. Constant lightning and thunder were observed as this storm was closing in. First raindrop observed at 4:03pm as a sprinkle. Precipitation increased to light rain at 4:05pm. Wetting of surfaces began at 4:08pm. Cool outflow winds began at 4:10pm from the NW as storm was getting closer. However, as storm was within a few miles of our area, the storm suddenly went into dissipation stage. Lightning frequency was significantly reduced at this time and wind began to subside. Wind increased again at 4:21 along with a close cloud to ground lightning strike. Precipitation increased further at 4:23pm for <1 minute but still not quite at a heavy rainfall rate. Rain subsided as light rain at 4:28 and wind changed from NW to ESE at 4:32pm. Sunshine and rainbow at 4:37 and light rain reduced further to a sprinkle at 4:40pm ending at 4:44pm. Checked gauge catch at 4:47pm indicated 0.11".
