Notes
In afternoon thunderstorm (see sig wx rpt for timing), hail started dime to quarter size, then decreased in size to pea to dime size but increased in volume / rate. Hail was roughly 1" deep on flat surfaces. About 3/4 to 1 mile to north, hail was visibly deeper. I investigated & found hail on the ground to be 2-3" deep. Peak instantaneous rainfall rate on Davis digital gauge was 7.68"/hr. It appears some amount of hail bounced out of the Cocorahs gauge as Davis gauge registered 0.74" (bigger bucket, less bouncing out) - Davis gauge generally slightly undercalls relative to Cocorahs gauge so this relativity is an anomaly. Both gauges probably undercalled to some degrees , with unknown amount of hail bouncing out of both gauges.
