Notes
First precipitation began at 12:59pm as a brief sprinkle that ended after a few drops. Next brief sprinkle began at 1:09pm and heard frequent rumbles of thunder coming from the NW. Observed mammatus to the NE. At 1:18pm, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorm over the Black Forest moving NE. Next sprinkle began at 1:26pm and ended at 1:29pm. Next round of precipitation began at 2:29 as a very light rain shower increasing in intensity at 2:35 as light rain with large rain drops. Observed a couple of graupel strikes on the patio at 2:43 and that was it. No hail observed. Intensity decreased at 2:44 and ended at 2:46 with no thunder heard. At 3:42pm, observed another thunderstorm developing to our NW moving NE with lots of distant thunder heard. No precipitation from that cell. Gauge catch is dry. This morning we have low stratus with drizzle wetting the grass and gauge catch funnel.
