 Rain came in three periods. In early-afternoon rain was mostly a few drops from stray clouds. Then, around 4 pm, rain became serious. By 6 pm 0.52 inches had fallen accompanied with very violent thunder and lightning; at times lighting to thunder spacing was only two seconds. After a respite light rain fell a few times from 8 pm onward. Temperatures also cooled to high 50 degrees F. Grassy areas and bare/mulched ground absorbed rainfall like a dry sponge. At reading several grass areas appear to be showing hopeful signs of life.
