Notes
Observed thunderstorm approaching from the west during the 1:00pm hour. First raindrops observed at 1:23pm as a sprinkle. Very close cloud to ground lightning at 1:28 just to the south. At 1:30, Doppler radar indicated the primary cell was over Colorado Springs and what I was observing was a small, isolated cell overhead. Precipitation increased to moderate rain at 1:33. Precipitation decreased at 1:35 and ended by 1:41pm. Cloud to cloud lightning was almost constant accompanied by constant low-level thunder. At 2:00pm, observed very dark sky to our north as the main cell missed us. Also, checked the gauge catch at this time and found 0.02" of precipitation. Thunder came to an end at this time. Observed another brief shower at 2:42pm with unknown duration. No hail was observed during the event.
