Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: CT-LT-22
Station Name: New Milford 5.3 SSW
Report Date: 8/1/2020
Submitted: 8/01/2020 12:56 PM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
Over the last two weeks, there has been only 0.27” precipitation. At the same time, it has been very hot - temperatures in the 90’s on several days and high humidity. Most days, I need to water my vegetable plants and my decorative potted plants wilt most every day. The grass is drying up and becoming “crunchy”. We have had to add water to our above ground pool twice in the last two weeks due to evaporation (so there is enough to still run the filter). However, this hot weather has been good for recreation on Candlewood Lake. Even with the pandemic, there are many boats out, especially on weekends and float planes taking off and landing. Partying goes on many Friday and Saturday nights till after midnight. Since it is a pumped storage lake, the water levels stay consistent in the summer. Fortunately, our well seems to be fine and not in danger of running low, although we try to be careful with water use.
