A heavy downpour had occurred between 4:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. This heavy downpour had totally saturated the soil and the lawns now appear to be soggy. Soil moisture is above normal. Grass is green and appears to be growing rapidly. The trees are normal. Early thus morning, a visual inspection of a contractors excavation for a 20" gas pipeline inspection this morning along the sidewalk indicates that the soil moisture is still a little above normal through out the depths of the soil from 10 feet down to the surface. This indicates that the soil moisture deep down has probably been above normal since the extremely wet May despite the dry first half of June so far as of 8:00 a.m. As of 5:00 p.m. 0.86 more inches of rain has fallen which had increased the monthly total from 2.65 inches from 8:00 a.m. to 3.51 inches which is near normal for the month of June. The pond level is now above normal in my back yard and neighbors' yards. The first half of June was relatively dry and the second half was relatively wet based on precipitation records.
