Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: WI-CB-4
Station Name: Portage 5.7 WSW
Report Date: 4/22/2019
Submitted: 4/22/2019 5:22 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
This past week saw much needed drier conditions with little precipitation. Warmer, sunny and breezy days has helped dry out surface soil. I saw farmers testing tillage conditions on lighter soils, but no widespread activity yet. You can see that the soil is still wet, and there is still ponding in low areas., but they are drying down. Low land river bottoms are also showing drain off, but has a long way to go with no added rain. Ditches are receeding, but marshes and lakes are still full. The Baraboo River is now running a little above normal, but the Wisconsin River is above flood stage and hopefully stays within its banks. Things are greening up, but there is still the threat of spring wildfires. The lawns and fields are still soft under foot with good surface moisture.
