Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NC-CN-31
Station Name: New Bern 8.8 W
Report Date: 8/20/2017
Submitted: 8/20/2017 7:26 AM
Scale Bar: Near Normal
Description:
I submitted "near normal" because although it is very humid, and there has been rain either forecasted or happened over this past week; the amount of precipitation has not been significant AT THIS LOCATION.

Agriculture: soy beans mostly this year in this area - seem to be doing well; although there was a report that "the moths" came early this year and could be doing damage to the crop //

ENERGY: usage levels must be high since we have had heat indexes up to 105° and beyond over a couple days; the humidity levels make the high temperatures even more uncomfortable.

FIRE: Level must be low considering the regional environment.

PLANTS: As reported a couple weeks ago - trees that were beginning to loose their leaves prematurely have benefitted from the additional rainfall this week. Likely they may have damage, but at this point - are still alive.
WILDLIFE: evidence of fox presence is starting to show up - but then, so too are sighting of rabbits.
Barn Swallows are gone; the hummingbirds are eating voraciously.

SOCIETY and PUBLIC HEALTH: first case of flu reported in our nearby town this past week.

TOURISM: nothing has been adversely affected by weather systems, other than oppressive heat likely is keeping people indoors rather than enjoying outside venues

WATER SUPPLY & QUALITY: appears normal - no reports otherwise
