Description:
We have had no rain this week. Beans and corn harvest is in full swing. Our farmer did 4th cutting of alfalfa, which was a surprise. My garden needs harvesting but sunny 80 degree weather has made me wait. We had a non-weather related power outage on 10/5 for almost an hour. A combine cutting beans hit an electric pole behind Caseys. Although Ameren has repaired the damage, Casey's system is still down so no gas being sold. Crows have been busy at sunrise making all sorts of noise. I like them regardless. Our fawn has been seen by itself some days. One day we had five deer in the back alfalfa field. My sister calls it bunching behavior. The next day they topped my sweet potato plants. They do that most years. Flocks of small birds noticed going east in the morning. Hard maples are turning orange and red. Mushrooms are still popping up. Our soil is still dark but I've noticed some deep cracks in the garden and weeds are harder to pull. Creeks in town still have water. Our overflow creek and pond are without water but are dark mud. Grass is still green. Some fall leaves are falling (tulip, pear, sycamore, some oaks)
