Description:
For the month of October so far I have recorded 0.41 inch, which brings the year to date to 37.70 inches. For the period ending September 30 the total is 37.29 inches. The PRISM 30 year average for the same time period ending September 30 is 27.70 inches. The NOAA average for that time period is 27.32 inches. We have been above both averages since March 31 this year. Even looking at just August and September, I am 7 inches above normal. I have been in Putnam county several times in the last week or two and there is tomato harvesting going on now, which was probably delayed because of the rain we got last month. We also saw alfalfa being cut and some corn and soybeans being harvested. Around me the soybeans are not as far along except for a few fields. There were some soybeans that were harvested a week ago that the fields got planted in wheat. I haven't seen a hummingbird at my feeder since last Monday. I still see vulturs in the area, and see a deer in the fields once in awhile. Our grass is still green and growing. The flowers are still blooming. More outdoor events are having nice weather now since there aren't as many rainy days lately. We are still having quite a lot of dew in the mornings. There are also more clear days and nights recently providing more astronomy opportunities. Much of the year has been rainy or cloudy.
