Description:
For the week ending 10/4/2026, conditions were NEAR NORMAL. The 7-day cumulative precipitation total of 1.02 inches was 31% above the 13-year (2009-2022) average of 0.78 inches and in the “near normal” range; the 30-day total of 4.89 inches was 43% above the expected 13-year average of 3.42 inches and in the “mildly wet” range; and the 90-day total of 9.99 inches was 3% below the expected 13-year average of 10.25 inches and in the “near normal” range. The 7-day water balance was +0.58 inches (1.02 inches of rain minus 0.44 inches of evapotranspiration). There were 3 days of measurable precipitation, with a maximum of 0.68 inches on the 2nd. Temps ranged from 77 F (on the 1st) to 39 F (on the 3rd), with average Hi/Lo temps of 69/52 F (-7/+3 relative to last week). Precipitation Trends—September to End: 3.92 inches (up 0.50 inches, 115% of PRISM Normal); Year to Date (2026): 39.52 inches (up 8.05 inches, 126% of PRISM Normal). Water Year to End (2025-2026): 50.45 inches (up 9.82%, 124% of PRISM Normal). A change is decidedly in the air, with cooler temperatures and the first hints of muted fall colors, especially with maples. The cottonwoods in the backyard are dropping leaves with increasing frequency. The yard still requires weekly mowing.
