Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: CO-EP-371
Station Name: Peyton 8.5 WSW
Report Date: 10/4/2026
Submitted: 10/04/2026 7:31 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
Since last reported on 09/13/2026, recorded a total of 0.93" of gauge catch. This was from a Multi-Day Gauge Catch total from 09/19/2026 through 10/01/2026. Topsoil sample taken this morning shows dry soil at the surface, lightly moist soil just below the surface to 1.0", then moderately moist soil below the 1.0" level. This shows a great recovery from last report of Severely Dry. We had a couple of mornings this past week with dense fog and drizzle making everything moist. However, no measurable gauge catch from these events.

Observed a couple of coyotes yesterday morning prowling around neighbors back yards. Deciduous trees have begun their leaf color change. Magpies and Finches are the most observed bird since returning home. Some of the grasses turned green from the precipitation received but it won't get tall enough for mowing. Will use the weed eater to cut down grass in the side ditch and that will do it for mowing this season. Temperatures continue to cool with chilly mornings in the 40's. Also, with the additional precipitation, I have paused providing supplemental water for the trees. I haven't heard of any wildfire issues since returning home. This last storm provided a significant amount of snowpack to Pikes Peak and surrounding mountains. Local news reported a cold-weather rescue on the Peak this past week.

With the significant precipitation during by absence, I am revising the Condition Scale from Severely Dry to Mildly Dry.
