7.56” in the preceding week, bringing the ‘25-‘26 Water Year to a close on a juicy note. This station received a total for the WY of 63.23”, which is 13.73” above PRISM average (representing 127.7% of average). Quite the contrast to ’24-’25, in which we had a deficit to average of 12.75” for the WY and was only 74% of normal. Mother Nature loves her averages! We’re now into what many locals consider the best time of year for the Cape – cool nights, warm days, color changes, quieter roadways. Lawns are lush; ornamental and veggie gardens are waving the seasonal white flag, fall flowers and leaf color changes abound. Pond level remains slightly above normal due to the Nor’easter – although it wouldn’t surprise if they added another control board to the outflow sluice in anticipation of the cranberry harvest. Wildlife activity appears normal. Shouldn’t be too much longer before the ducks begin their return and the swans get busy chasing transient Canada geese out of the neighborhood.
