The change of calendar seemed to coincide with the change of seasons! After a very warm start to the week a combination of tropical moisture from Polo's remnants was met by a strong cold front. The result was some much needed rain and cooler temperatures. Only distant lightning was observed here and the rain was light to occasionally moderate so it seemed to soak in well with very little runoff. Total catch for the week was 0.99". Haven't had a chance to evaluate soil conditions but is much softer to walk on. Aside from Friday when light rain fell most of the day it was a good outdoor work week.
79 CDDs this week, in the low teens until topping out at 18 on Wednesday ahead of the rain and front. Only 6 recorded Friday! That's a great trend! Most plants responding to rain with a nice green-up. Lawn grass looking better. Tomatoes are setting fruit again!
Local creeks and ponds are up from the late week rain. Major regional rivers showing a very slight increase over the past couple of days. Major lakes all below normals except for Hudson and Ft. Gibson which are slightly above.
