OK, today is Monday, and the weatherman is predicting 2-4” of rain over the next seven days while we have been two weeks without a drop. (That prediction was a little off, while I actually received 0.75” through Friday.) The blades of grass are curling up in the midday sun as hot, dry air arrives from the north. The only thing this dry weather is good for is sugarcane harvest, which begins this week, but not in this area. The forecasted thunderstorms on Thursday began with the first wave at 8:07 a.m. Heavy rain fell for 15 minutes or so, and light drizzle remained until noon. The lawn looks refreshed as well as the flowering annuals the next day. More rain predicted this weekend. We hope!
