A total of 2.20" of rain fell over the past week with most of it falling Thursday. And once again our NWS did a great job forecasting, as they predicted 2-3" of rain throughout the 2 day event. Right now the surface is pretty wet but not quite severely wet, so going with moderately wet soil conditions seems about right. Area waterways are up to near bank full while the nearby Beaver Creek is just over its banks and running muddy. Trees are finally beginning to show a bit of color but are still thick with leaves, for the most part. Area lawns continue growing surprisingly fast and require mowing about every 4 days, so far, but with shorter days and cooler nights growing conditions are bound to slow down. Wildlife is not too busy yet but the squirrels are tenaciously getting into my pumpkins, which I now wrap in metal screening for the time being. And the boxelder bugs have finally started showing up but so far their numbers are low. So far. If only squirrels ate boxelder bugs. Probably not going to happen. Well definitely.
