September 24 - 30, 2026: a trace of rain (a few drops) on 9/25, otherwise dry. Cool overnight and during most days but near 90°F at the end of last week. Trees are beginning to turn, leaves are beginning to fall. Corn and sunflowers are drying, the corn ripe and flowers dying. Tomatoes are staying green. Grass continues to grow. Daily to every-other-day watering of yard and gardens because there has been no rain and humidity is low. Birds are very active at the seed and sugar water feeders. Reservoirs in the mountains are being drawn down for late season irrigation and minimum flow but most small streams have dried up. Bears, moosse, deer, and elk are coming to lower elevations because food in the mountains has dried up, water scarce. Preventative burns are happening in some mountain areas to reduce fuel for future wildfires.
