Overnight rain Thursday dropped 0.33", bringing September's average to 78% of normal.  Water Year average is 44.97", 88% of normal.  Ruth Lake Reservoir on 9/24 was at 77% capacity.  High and low averages for the week 67.4f and 52.1f.  ETo for the week 0.25" and year to date (since April 1st) is 10.80".  The Drought Map removed northern Mendocino and Humboldt counties from the Moderate Drought category, D1, and leaves them in the Abnormally Dry, D0, category.  The Mad and Eel Rivers remain low, while the Trinity at Hoopa has dropped some, as the water releases from the dam upstream have been cut back.  Controlled burns will begin in the Redwood National and State Park area near Orick this week, with six targeted areas on the list.  Fun activities continue in and around Eureka with the Redwood Jazz Festival, and in Blue Lake the Festival of Courage, a Renaissance-Faire-style fundraiser for a charter school.  Children through adults dress up in fancy medieval costumes and even have jousting in the small town's horse arena.
