We received 2.37" of rain since my last report on 9/19/26. Although there was swift running water and ponding during heavier rain events, the water inflitrated back into the ground; the ground remains very saturated, however, and feels rather "squishy".  There are lots of fungi spreading in my yard and the mosquito population also exploded after the larger rain events. I have observed a number of animal behaviors that seem tied in with the increased rain we have been getting recently:
During one of the bigger rain events, which also included very gusty winds, all of the squirrels who live in my large oak tree in my front yard were clinging, head down, all around the Trunk of the tree; presumably to stay dry And not get blown around in the swaying tree limbs where their nests are.
At the end of another rain event a chipmunk scurried by on my patio...specifically running under cover of the roof eaves, to stay dry.
After the rain events I also noticed the squirrels were actually digging Up things to eat, versus their usual behavior of Burying acorns; presumably the saturated ground is making it easier to find grubs and insects. One squirrel even managed to catch a short tailed shrew that came too close to the surface; as soon as the squirrel got a taste of it though, he dropped the shrew, which quickly disappeared. 
I did not view local creeks and streams recently.
The water quality is good with no restrictions on usage. 
Plants are still green and growing.
