Fire danger was at moderate most of the week - haven't seen the fire dept. sign since the rain showers.  Some wind came with the rain, and we had a 3 hour power outage.  We've had an ordinary amount of rain for September.  Still irrigating at times.  Birds are beginning to flock, some will probably migrate out shortly. Birds are also fairly noisy now, the quiet of nesting season is over, and they feel free to let you know their opinions. The deer continue to visit our back yard.  Fallen fruit is the favorite treat.  This week the barn cats caught the first mouse I've seen in a month (the cats really reduced the population).  Rabbits are having fall litters.  Tree frogs are often heard.  The white ash is entirely yellow and dropping leaves.  The Pacific ash trees are showing yellow and brown and still some green and are dropping their seeds.  The "burning bush" is entirely red and the snowball bushes are turning.  Cottonwoods and maple have dropped just a few leaves.  I saw the 4th yellowjacket I've seen this summer the past week, and it was a nuisance, trying to get into my whitewash.  Moths flock to my headlamp at night.  We've had dew most mornings, and earlier in the week, rather foggy mornings.  It's a high fog, so driving is not a problem, but it cuts the sunlight for hours and the garden is growing very slowly.  Grass is mostly green and has grown a little.  I mowed the lawn this week.  The creek is still quite low and quiet.  Weeds are growing and sprouting all over the place.  There are still good apples and blackberries to be had.
