I must water my gardens every day if I am to have any kind of a harvest. I am losing seedlings and plants due to the lack of rain. The pastures are burnt and crispy. We have one pasture that's closed off to the cattle. It is baring growing due to lack of water. I fear that a careless person will throw out a cigarette and everything will go up in flames. Our ponds are lower than they have been since the last drought. Herons and egrets are monitoring them for easy meals due to the low water. There are burn bans here and in neighboring counties. It is so sad to see the cattle trying to eat the small sprigs of grass that they find. The owner has to feed them more often and that's hurting him financially. Only the evenings give relief from the heat and only the small amounts of dew give water for the grass. The photos below show the burnt grass.
