Only a trace of rain late this week – 10 seconds on Friday afternoon. May 19 was our first 90F+ day; we've had 50 in the following 123 days with another predicted today. Creeks just puddles, seeps nonexistent, ponds low. More corn coming down, one bean field down, brown the dominant color in the corn&bean fields. Saw a young man with a five-horse team turning under corn stubble. Flushed a flock of quail on the mailbox walk before sunrise. Saw lone hen turkeys a couple times eating bugs in the shade. No deer, but we're hunkered down inside with most of the blinds closed against the heat so no surprise there. Hummingbirds we have plenty with the feeders on the shady side of the house. A humongous HAF!
