Weekly precipitation was 1.21 inches. The low temperatures this past week ranged from 71 to 75 while the highs ranged 98 to 100. Plenty of sun this past week (the days are getting noticeably shorter though). Humid to start the week, but it has become less humid the last few days. Harvest has been continuing each day this past week. We were cutting beans on the farm near Clarksdale Monday afternoon when a dark cloud, that had grown directly overhead, decided to unleash torrents of rain and lightning bolts upon us. All the reported precipitation for the week fell during this storm. We moved to another farm in the SW part of the county the day after getting rained out and kept on harvesting. We finished harvesting the acres where we were rained out yesterday and we will completely finish this year's harvest today - September 20th, 2026 (we only have about 60 acres left to go). It has been very nice weather for harvest (although a little on the hot side). Twice, one of our combines had to be washed down because it began to smolder (debris around the exhaust got hot enough to ignite through midday). Ground conditions vary from fairly moist in areas on the Clarksdale farm where we irrigated and caught the Monday thunderstorm to very dry, hard and cracked open on our other farms in the SW part of Coahoma County and northern Bolivar County. As a whole, we are very dry in the area. This station is down 11.86 inches for the water year so far and we only have 10 days to go.
