Despite 1" of rain early in the week the ground is still quite dry.  Streams are at or below normal levels with some even well below normal.  Officially we are in D0 status.  Rain, possibly heavy, is expected to start within a few hours of my writing this so we'll see what happens.  Migrating birds are leaving, seasonal plants are dying off and lawns aren't looking great due to lack of rain.  Trees have not started to change color yet. Mandatory or emergency water restrictions are still in effect.  Surprisingly there have been no significant wildfires that I am aware of.
