Recovery from the severely dry conditions has started. The temperature has cooled to below normal after a very long above normal hot summer. Rain has finally arrived - 1.70 inches of it in the past 6 days. The soil is wet. Water is now flowing in the Rio Grande river. There was no blowing dust during today's thunderstorm wind. More rain is expected next week. The rain is probably too late in the season for plant growth, but maybe some autumn flowers will appear. Our water supply is adequate with mandatory watering restrictions in place.
The rain has cleaned the air; air quality has been good. No critical fire weather conditions are expected for the next week.
