Ground has been exceptionally dry despite very small rainfalls. Prairie plants are past their peak, starting to sag heavy with seed. Trees have started to drop brown leaves without changing color. Heavy rains last night (1.88" as of this morning, more on the way) will help to an extent, despite flash flooding in our urban area.
