For the week 9/13 - 9/19 2026 ----- EARLY MORNING TEMPERATURES at Data collection: Aurora: 49, 36, 58, 46, 52, 51, 51 & Kingsford : 50, 38, 58, 46, 52, 52, 51, -----Highs this week 60's 70s ------ WATER CONTENT IN THE GAUGE: AURORA - T, 0, .39, 0, .04, 0, 0 Total= .43" KINGSFORD - T, 0, .36, 0, .04, 0, 0 Total= .40 ----- SNOWFALL- Aurora and Kingsford : nothing no snow ----- MENOMINEE RIVER: Water levels all week at a low summer water height and river flow in the higher 800 CFS -low 900s from Wednesday through this a.m.  Water height has been low over the summer and with 3 days left of it, appears it's all summer. -----US DROUGHT MONITOR: Both Florence and the southern tip of Dickinson Counties are in the D2 severe stage according to the actual US Drought Monitor (not the CoCoRaHS one on this site). I used Moderate here as severely would line up with the US Drought version.  Grass has made really no improvement with same dry patches of grass. .40-.43 this week didn't help much as we need more rain to take care of the brown grass patches.  ----- WILDFIRE RISK: For Florence and Dickinson counties is MODERATE----- AIR QUALITY: Another excellent week no smoke clean air ------TOURISM: Campers I still see but sightings have slowed down a lot this week. Still, Older retired seniors towing or driving campers Boat towing down even from last week. Sone have pulled theirs from the river for the season BUSINESS: Local and regional traffic for construction has declined. Loggers steady this week yet less. Just 2 farm machines I spotted going back and forth from a field. Local contractors, about the same as last week, steady. -----WILDLIFE: Deer are still running around and getting apples from the neighbor's tree. noticed a few more swamp deer as I enter Kingsford along the wooded road. Geese have been flying south in small flocks and noticed various bird species also in flocks stop and rest here before their southern migration but a less busy week for birds heading south as a whole . Squirrels and chipmunks are busy gathering for the cold but still haven't seen any rabbits but the eagle has been spotted this week flying along the river.----- PLANTS: Another round of tree tops changing color replacing what blew off last week. Noticable Wednesday but overnight even more. My red Maple, shedding like crazy still and is 3/4 red and leaves dropped about 1/3rd off that tree and one of my oak's leaves are starting to change color and another just dropping leaves. Neighbor's birch trees and their leaves turning yellow. Marigolds, Lazy susans still blooming, onion plant blossoms died off 2 weeks ago in the shade. 1/3 color change on the sumacs. ----- That's all I have for this week. Enjoy your weekend!
