Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: NC-CH-61
Station Name: Pittsboro 7.3 NE
Report Date: 9/19/2026
Submitted: 9/19/2026 7:48 AM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
Conditions here remain severely dry. We have received about 0.8 inches of rain over the last 7 days. However we are 13 inches behind the NOAA "30-year average" and about 17 inches behind the "Water Year" average measurement for our region. Leaves are beginning to turn color and some plants are showing heat stress effects. The Haw River is flowing at very low levels. We are still in a "stage 2" water use restriction and lawns are yellowing. Farmers seem to making the best of it but are losing some crops. This observer noted that below usual rainfall started October-November 2025, on that basis our region is approaching nearly one year of "drought".
