Compared county health inspections of 20 restaurants in this zip code during this summer to 20 local restaurants during last winter thinking that drought, lack of streamflow dissipating heat, & energy demand of refrigeration, would lead to more temperature related food violations. In winter I counted 14 of 20 local restaurants with temperature violations. During this summer 17 of 20 local restaurant inspections reported temperature violations. (Interrater reliability of 3 different county food inspector numbers). Although there are many more than 20 food services nearby, these preliminary findings may indicate a weather-related issue for further detailed analysis.
