Thus far in my “Watershed,” that resides in the “Upper Passaic River” Watershed, that covers from 1.5 miles to the NW to about 1.5 miles to the SE and is about 1 mile in width and in the general shape of a diamond;
There was ONE day with measurable precipitation and ZERO days with trace precipitation for a total of 0.01, inches the past seven days [Sunday-Saturday].
River and stream volume the past week of this CMR slowed their rates of flow over small lake dams west of this station, but as of the early morning increased significantly. As of Sunday, 9/13/2026; one covered 100% the width of the dam 6.5 miles from this station moving at a fast volume, with observable turbidity. The other, 2 miles to the west also decreased the past week, its flow over its fall, but after 3.14 on 9/13, this fall too increased its flow to 100%, moving at a similar volume with considerable observable turbidity.
The Madison Golf Course, adjacent this station had observable play all days. The ground around this station is moist and soft to walk on . Grass and weeds required maintenance. Active Birds around this station included; House Finch and Blue Jays were heard the past week. The Thistle Feeder was cleaned and refilled Sunday August 23, 2026. As of this report, 6-1/10” were consumed for a total weekly consumption (AGAIN) of 1-9/10ths from the previous week.
The Hummingbird Feeder was filled for the first time on 5/10/2026 and had observable use for the first time on 6/25. The Hummingbird feeder starting weight on 8/30, was 1107g and on 9/13 had an additional 28g consumed the previous week, or 2.7% usage, the previous seven days and had daily observable use. The feeder was refreshed this week with a starting weight of 1111g.
Neighborhood squirrels, Chipmonks and rabbits were all observed adjacent this station the past week. Yellow Jacket bees were seen buzzing this obs post. Mosquitoes continue to bite. Temperatures the past week were normal seasonal highs and lows. Temperatures were again cool, and humid most days.
Over the past 31 days; this station has captured and reported 5.41 inches of precipitation. There has been 101 days of precipitation the previous 255 days of CY2026 [1/1/2026 to 9/12/2026] for a “Calendar Year” [CY] total of
35.18”, compared to 95 days of precipitation and a [CY] total of
35.05” the same [year to date] in CY2025. So far, compared to last year, this station has received 0.13” MORE precipitation than a year ago, what continues to be a remarkable turn-a-round the past nine weeks. Some other totals from previous years, for comparison, are;
YTD2024- 46.64”
YTD2023- 36.59”
YTD2022- 30.90”
YTD2021- 42.49”
YTD2020- 34.62”
YTD2019- 45.14”
YTD2018- 47.34”
YTD2017- 33.53”
YTD2016- 33.06”
YTD2015- 27.27” (First full Year)
The TWELVE year running average total precipitation for this station is: 37.31 inches, making this stations total deficit: 2.13” less then the 12 year average and this year continues to be the sixth wettest year this CMR has been posted. Considering the twelve year annual comparable total for this station and total precipation from previous years, is why I believe that it is appropriate to maintain this week’s report on the “NORMAL” side of the Condition Scale Bar.
