More than three quarters of an inch of rain Thursday and another inch last night put us well over average for the month and above average for the year and water year. Lawns remain green though growth has slowed with cooler weather and shorter days. Flow levels in Bassett Brook and the Hoosic River are near normal. Fields and forest are wet from the recent rains with water pooling in low spots. Goldenrod is fading and milkweed seed pods are fully formed and about ready to burst. Jewelweed is shooting seeds. I've harvested the last of the peaches from my tree and have started harvesting pumpkins and winter squash. Hiking and biking trails on Mt Greylock are wet. Lots of coyote and porcupine activity.
