Soil conditions are very wet right now with the past week and half of showers. We have not experienced any areal flooding these past two weeks. The trees, bushes, vegetation and flowers are very lush at this time of the season. Grasses are growing at a similar rate experienced in the spring. There are some indicator plants that are showing some minor leaf color changes for the upcoming fall season. Trees with nuts, such as oaks have a large crop of nuts this year. The blue jays and squirrels have been having an on and off battle for the best tasting ones. Hummingbirds in this area have not started their migration to warmer climates yet. Small mammals have been very active in their search for food lately. That activity has drawn the attention of resident hawks and other birds of prey.
