Precipitation from a storm over an 8-hour period this past week put down 0.91" of soaking rain, but conditions still remain Mildly Dry. Grass is still slowed in growth and some of the areas that had turned brown still remain that way. MTD still remains below NOAA Norm at -0.56" (62%), however YTD is still above Norm at +2.42" (109%) and WYTD is +1.29" (104%). Crops have continued to dry down with a couple of area farmers beginning corn harvest. Area rivers (Mississippi, Rock and Green) remain low. The hummingbirds continue their daily battles for feeder time. I assume they will begin their migration south sometime in the next few days. Until then, I will continue to enjoy watching the feisty buggers.
