After the months long drought here, water from recent rains is still draining and soaking into our swampy sandy loam soil. It is not yet leaving persistent ponds and full ditches. The ground is wet and spongy in the low spots. Yards look great and do not require supplemental watering. Grasses and weeds along our roads look well watered. As yet, no standing water on or around our lot. Few birds find it necessary to visit our birdbath.
