Conditions here are severely dry. We are far behind the NOAA 30 year "average" and have received less than 1/4 inch of rain this month. Tree and bush leaves are changing due to the season as well as lack of rain. We have noticed several trees showing extreme stress and appear to be dying. The ground is dry and lawns are show yellowing. The Haw River channel flow is very low and beginning to locally show "exposed" river bottom. People continue in their daily routines. Schools in session are restricting sports practice times due to daily heat. We could really use some rain and a break from the this hot, dry summer.
