0.36” of rain last week in one early morning event - nothing severe. A nice shower, but not enough to have any effect on soil moisture. 1.83” of Evapotranspiration. Temps have not cooled off much - three days 100 and above, three days upper 90s and one day of 89 degrees F for daytime highs. Every day the Heat Index was 100 degrees and above. Morning lows in the 70s. Wind has been light to moderate (at best) and generally out of the south. Two days under Heat Advisory and two days with Air Quality Alert. D1 Drought Status. Remain under Burn Ban (someone should tell the sun). TX Power Grid continues to operate under Normal conditions. Container plants still getting watered twice a week and doing fine. Trees getting watered once a week and many are looking very poorly - young trees have lost almost all their leaves, established trees fairing a bit better. Native plant beds still doing well - may adjust watering to once every two weeks if the temps move into the 90s. Prairie Restoration dry and dead but for a few sunflowers trying to hang on. Hummingbird activity seems to be increasing slightly - there is one very “healthy” looking one that likes to sit on the hummingbird swing - I’ve nicknamed him Chubby. He’s a cutie and I’ll enjoy him as long as he stays around.  Bumblebees still active, see the occasional rabbit. Not seeing a lot of other wildlife activity as I haven’t been outside as much with the heat. Butterflies not as numerous this year and I’m not sure why - hoping to start seeing the Monarchs soon. (Many birds are migrating now - please turn off unnecessary lights at night.) Driving around my area this weekend observed how dry it is everywhere - neighbor’s ponds are noticeably lower as compared to the beginning of Summer. Leaves are falling off the trees making it look like Fall but it’s due to lack of rain.  Current stats: 0.59” of rain in the last 51 days. 15.71” of Evapotranspiration during those 51 days. 32 of those days temps were 100 degrees plus. 22 days in a row was the longest streak, during that time, of one hundred degree days. Submitting photos of ground crack for comparison to the August photos that were sent - you can see how much it’s grown. This crack is representative of other cracks in the yard - ankle twisters.
