Mon 8/24 – Sun 9/6/26 rural Central Oregon High Desert – severely dry] 
Total precip this period started with a trace on Wed 9/2 and totaled 1.21”, by midnight late 
Sun 9/6.  The episodes of rain were enough to form a few puddles that lasted several hours and the ground (developed and undeveloped) remains damp.  Mon 8/24, my cold tap water (from the well) ran cloudy, then cleared after about a gallon.  (This could be for any number of “normal” harmless reasons, but I will be alert for other tell-tale signs of problems starting with well water availability and safety).  
This period started with day time high temps in the mid-80’s to 91°F, them cooled over 2 days (with the arrival of the cooler/wet system) from 87 to 57° – and remained unseasonably low for the rest of the week.  The average daytime high this period dropped to 75°F (12° less than the previous 2-week period) and the average morning low was 30°F and ranged from 18 - 44°F.  Air conditioning abruptly became unnecessary – even undesirable! – Wed 9/2, and heaters had to be turned on the next day for the first time since mid-June.  
While travelling in nearby areas (Sunriver, Bend, Prineville) areas of smoke and haze remained visible.  I smelled smoke during a brief haze event at this site the last time (I hope!) on Mon 8/24.  According to Central Oregon Fire Info, effective Sat 9/5, fire officials reduced Public Use Fire Restrictions from stage 2 to stage 1 on most central Oregon area BLM, National Forest and National Grasslands (except national Forest Wilderness Areas), due to the recent rains and cooler temps.
