We have not had any impactful rain since August 17 when I reported 0.85 inch in my gauge. Our lawn is very brown with fescue and seasonal weeds drying out (we minimally treat our lawn) while crabgrass is thriving. I have native plant beds and herbaceous plants are stressed and woody native perennial large shrubs losing leaves. River birches in an area of our yard which tends to be wet but is now clay cracking dry are really stressed and losing leaves. My beekeeper friends are saying the bees are consuming their honey and the several days of near record temperatures have kept our two air handlers running steadily.
